What are the major hindrances in creating a global police force?
What will be an ideal response?
There are many, but here are the major ones:
1. Sovereignty – each country today has sovereign territory and powers and no one wishes to allow another foreign power or force into operating in their borders without an invitation.
2. Language – although English is the language of international business there are hundreds of languages that are needed for criminal investigations.
3. Police corruption – based on norms and funding, many national departments are corrupt in terms of payoffs for information and freedom for many criminal gangs to operate.
4. Lack of funding – as shown by many case studies with the United Nations (UN), there needs to be a permanent funding source to have police investigations to continue. This has been demonstrated with many current UN peace keeping missions that are not funded correctly.
