SP's problem is a very complex one and requires counseling from several different members of the health care team. As a member of that team, you must be careful to reinforce, and not contradict, the information SP is receiving from the other team members. Discuss what you think your boundaries are and how the team effort should be coordinated

There should be a treatment team that would consist of a psychiatrist or psychologist, a physician (if a psychiatrist is not included), a nutritionist, and a nurse. There should be regularly scheduled team conferences to discuss the progress and future plan of action. The team would be coordinated by the physician. The nutritionist should be concerned with determining the patient's requirements, providing those requirements appropriately to the taste of the patient, instructing the patient concerning the relationship of nutrition and health, and encouraging the patient with loving patience.
