Compare the definition of externalizing behaviors with that of internalizing behaviors. Select one of the types of behavior and describe a child who displays that behavior.
What will be an ideal response?
The answer should indicate that externalizing behaviors include actions like aggression, hyperactivity, impulsivity, noncompliance, or delinquency. Internalizing behaviors are less obvious, characterized by withdrawn actions. Both types of behaviors can interfere with educational performance and social interactions. The answer should describe a child with either externalizing or internalizing behaviors and should include a description of the child's behaviors that correspond to the selected definition. Examples of either behaviors should reflect, but are not limited to, those described in Topic 10.3 and listed in the chart "Examples of Externalizing and Internalizing Behaviors."
