Answer: The three language functions for persuasive writing are: self-maintaining, reasoning, and projecting. The lesson should include listening to different types of persuasive writing texts. Students should read and discuss the texts, looking at the author's techniques. Using the persuasive text as a model, the students should identify a topic, audience, purpose, and writing technique to use for a collaborative piece of persuasive writing. And then students write their own individual persuasive writing pieces. Students should also be encouraged to include strong visual images using description and details.
