Explain the three major phases of team presentations. Give an example of a situation when you participated in a team presentation and analyze the extent to which your team did or did not follow the chapter’s guidelines. What were the consequences?

What will be an ideal response?

Answers will vary. The phases are (1) plan—the team defines its purpose and
analyzes the occasion of the presentation, selects a moderator, establishes channels of
communication among themselves, and assigns segment speakers; (2) design—each
speaker develops an individual presentation and then shares it with the other team
members. The team collaborates to create appropriate visual aids (a single slideshow,
handouts, and demonstrations), rehearses once or twice together, and brainstorms how
they will handle the questions and answers (Q & A) session; (3) deliver—the team
delivers the presentation, each speaker staying within time limits. Each speaker uses
previews or summaries to smooth the seams. The team presentation begins and
concludes with the moderator. All team members remain attentive when not presenting.
Each member is prepared to answer audience questions according to his/her individual
expertise.
