What is the significance of the ser alb being 2.2 g/dl? Discuss the pathophysiological effects this could have on LT's GI tract

Ser Alb helps to maintain oncotic pressure in the blood, which means it helps to hold fluid in the vascular system. When Ser Alb drops, this ability decreases. When Ser Alb drops below about 2.5 g/dl, edema is almost always a problem, particularly if the Ser Alb drops acutely. The resulting edema can be present in the GI tract, making it difficult for proper absorption to take place. The end result is usually diarrhea.
