What will be an ideal response?


There are some concerns about the survivability of person-centered therapy. Although in some parts of the world person-centered therapy is doing quite well (Eastern Europe, South America, Austria, and China, in other regions, person centered therapists have struggled to maintain and develop their identity within the contemporary healthcare landscape. Another challenge that has led to the decline of person-centered therapy has been the dilution of person centered values and practices in integrative approaches to psychotherapy. Most psychotherapeutic approaches either refer to or have adopted such person centered principles as empathy, attentiveness, authenticity, and positive regard for clients—usually even without reference Carl Rogers. These principles are now standard operating principles for most therapeutic approaches.
