Ans: In curriculum compacting, Tomlinson says that first, the teacher must assess what students do and do not know. Students are exempt from content they have already mastered. At the second stage, the teacher designs a plan for students to address any skills or understandings they did not master. In third stage, the teacher and student design a study/project that extends the student’s knowledge base while others are working on general lessons.
