If you had been in Sandy Hill Pittman's shoes, how would you have handled the criticism she received upon returning to the United States?

What will be an ideal response?

She did the worst thing possible: She said nothing when she returned and left it up
to others to define her role in the tragedy. Although Pittman bears some
responsibility for what happened, she is far from being alone in that regard. In
fact, she has probably been vilified much more than she deserves. If Pittman had
spoken about her side of the story, expressing remorse that her actions may have
indirectly led to the disaster on the mountain, the public perception of her would
probably have been more sympathetic
