Ans: Answers to this question will vary but should include elements of the following: Identify the problem(s). Create a plan for collecting data. Use both direct and indirect methods of data collection. Compare and analyze the data collected. Look at the target behavior, the setting, the time of day, the subject being taught and the length of the undesired behavior. Develop a hypothesis as the educated guess as to why the behavior is occurring. Interviews, parent contact, school records and observations are all ways to gather data. If needed, create a BIP (behavior intervention plan), a stand-alone document but indicated in the IEP.
