Provide an overview of and identify challenges associated with meeting community norm standards
What will be an ideal response?
Community norm standards include the accreditation processes of such organizations as the National Association of Family Child Care, the National Afterschool Association and the National Association for the Education of Young Children. These processes are created to support continuity between early childhood programs by providing guidance for how to attain high-quality care through a process that recognizes program excellence. Accreditation for each of these agencies is voluntary, and therefore although the goal of accreditation is supporting uniform standards representing high-quality programming, not every program elects to or is able to participate. Potential obstacles include the time involved in accreditation as well as the costs associated with pursuing, attaining, and maintaining accreditation.
