Why is it important for an officer to properly pronounce a person's surname when encountering that person on the street?

What will be an ideal response?

The first contact a person has with law enforcement officers will either confirm or dispel the preconceived suspicion as to how the person will be treated. Proper pronunciation of the person's name is an excellent way to begin contact with the person.
