Agreements are only legal if they are signed by competent parties. In order to be considered to be a competent party the person signing an agreement must not be under eighteen years of age and they need to be mentally competent. The parties to an agreement have to signify their participation in the contract in whatever form is legally required, such as their signature and the date on an agreement form or their signature, date, and the stamp and signature of a notary republic.
