Describe how light from the sun is absorbed and reflected so the eye can perceive color.

What will be an ideal response?

Light reflection - Absorption and reflection are the most common occurrences to light or to the visible waves in regard to color. White light of natural sunlight has a complete spectrum of light waves. As light shines on a colored surface, all the wavelengths that are in white light are absorbed, except for the wave of that color. On a red vehicle, when light hits it all, the wavelengths except for red are absorbed. The red wavelengths are reflected, and the vehicle is perceived as red to people looking at it. These reflected waves are bounced back without changing their wavelength or changing their direction.
The same amount of light is reflected back as is shined on it, and if viewed from different angles, it will look the same color. Even if viewed under less intense light, the vehicle will still be red, even if shadows are cast on it.
