What is not news today may end up being news tomorrow, not because of any change in the reality of newsworthy problems (statistically significant findings on global warming, crime rates, incarceration rates, suicide rates, etc., are relatively steady over the course of a few years); but because what gets labeled as significant often has less to do with statistics and more to do with substantive significance.
