Explain the difference between standardized tests and norm referenced tests.
What will be an ideal response?
Standardized tests ensure that all students have the same experience taking a test, that is, all students get the same content, the same time to take the tests, and the same environment in which to take the test. Norm-referenced tests provide information about how a child scores in relation to other students in his or her age-group. For example, if a student scores in the 80% percentile, then he or she has scored at or above 80% of other students who took the same test.
