Explain how n-type semiconductor material is created.
What will be an ideal response?
N-type semiconductor material is created when silicon is combined with small amounts
of pentavalent atoms, such as phosphorus or arsenic. Of the fi ve electrons in these dopant
atoms, one electron does not form a covalent bond with silicon atoms and becomes a free
electron.
