What will be an ideal response?

This topic is covered on page 629 of the text and should be fairly simple for the student to answer. Forward scheduling starts with the order being taken and schedules forward in time to determine the completion date. Backward scheduling starts with an anticipated completion date (perhaps the due date) and schedules backward in time to determine when the order must be entered into production to meet the completion date.
