Name at least three components of an effective or healthy work climate.
What will be an ideal response?
Examples should include three of the following:
1. The working atmosphere is informal, comfortable, and relaxed.
2. There is enough discussion pertinent to the task at hand, in which all participate.
3. Members understand, accept, and are committed to the group’s objective.
4. Members listen to one another and every idea is given a fair consideration.
5. Disagreements are not suppressed, but why there are disagreement is examined carefully as the group tries to resolve them rationally instead of than by dominating or silencing dissenters.
6. Most important decisions are reached by consensus. Everyone generally agrees and is willing to support those decisions.
7. Criticism is frequent, frank, and relatively comfortable. Personal attack, either overt or hidden, is not present.
8. Members can freely express their feelings.
9. Clear assignments are made and accepted when action is necessary.
10. The chairperson does not dominate, nor do members defer to the chair. Who shifts, depending on the circumstances. The issue is not who controls the group but how the job is done.
11. The group is cognizant of its own operation.
