Answer: Medications-50% of elderly over 65 years old takes several medicines per day, treatments can have both beneficial and negative affects, can be harmful if they interact with each other or other foods in the diet. Chronic disease-more than 8 out of 10 people have 1 chronic condition;50% have at least 2, (obesity, heart disease, osteoporosis, cancer, hypertension, diabetes), having conditions could impair ability to prepare food , shop, etc., nutrient needs can change/increase , example:cancer, diabetes. Mental health-a positive outlook on life with social support can make food/eating more interesting, satisfying, 15% of people over 65 experience depression, this can cause lack of interest in food/eating, weakness, mental confusion or overeating, some withdraw, eat by themselves, tend not to eat enough , may develop apathetic attitude towards life and nutrition isn't important. Economic-types /amounts of food someone eats strongly influenced by funds available, insufficient income for those over 65 can be factor in not being well nourished.
