Describe the operation of the clutch, giving information that explains how the clutch releases and energizes.
What will be an ideal response?
When the clutch pedal is depressed, the clutch linkage moves the release bearing against the pressure plate levers or diaphragm spring. This forces the pressure plate away from the clutch disc and flywheel. This allows the flywheel and pressure plate (which are attached to the engine) to turn without turning the clutch disc (which is attached to the transmission input shaft). When the pedal is released, the clutch disc is pressed between the pressure plate and flywheel, connecting the engine to the transmission input shaft.
