Explain why successful grant writers do not "chase" grants
A grant writer who chases grants is one who is not focused on a given topic and jumps from topic to topic to capture the latest stream of grant money. Unfocused grant chasers usually feel frustrated because they are constantly changing gears and trying to develop expertise in many, often unrelated areas. Many times, this grant "chasing" has a negative impact on their success rate as a funded grant writer.
