Briefly describe the following four fundamental patterns of speech organization: time order, narrative order, topical order, and logical reasons order.

Time order arranges main points in chronological sequence or by steps in a process. It is useful when explaining how something happened, or how something works.
Narrative order conveys ideas through a story or series of stories. It is rooted in narrative theory, which suggests that one important way people communicate is through storytelling. Each main point can be an event in a single story or each main point may be a different story that illustrates the thesis.
Topical order arranges the main points using some logical relationship among them. They might progress from general to specific, least to most important, most to least familiar, and so forth.
Logical reasons order structures the main points according to reasons for accepting the thesis as desirable or true. It is usually used when the main goal of the speech is to persuade.
