Comment on the following statement: "New-service development is typically a linear process."

What will be an ideal response?

New-service/product development is rarely a completely linear process. Many companies are finding they can speed up the process of new-service development that some steps can be worked on simultaneously and, in some instances, a step may even be skipped. It is not uncommon to find a service provider working in the planning stages for a new service while at the same time the current version is being launched. The overlapping of steps and simultaneous development of various pieces of the new-service/product development has been referred to as flexible product development. This type of flexible, speedy process is particularly important in technology industries, where services evolve quickly.
