Why should consumers be skeptical about ingesting melatonin supplements or any other dietary supplement sold in vitamin or health stores?

What will be an ideal response?

Dietary supplements have been sold for many years around the world. Although the logic behind taking some of these supplements seems to be sound, there is usually very little if any scientific evidence supporting these dietary supplements. Dietary supplements are not regulated by the FDA, and as long as there is no evidence of harmful effects, the companies that manufacture these supplements are allowed to claim whatever they feel is appropriate to sell more of their product.
