Describe how you can get the most out of this textbook
What will be an ideal response?
To get the most out of this textbook, I need to be actively involved as a reader. Before beginning a chapter, I can preview it by flipping through the pages and looking at the headings. Knowing the topics that will be covered will help me organize the information I am learning. I should complete Time for Action exercises as I read to practice applying the skills and content I am learning. I should read small sections at a time and take notes on it as I read. Closing the book before taking notes will force me to put it into my own words. I can also use the 3R method- read, recite (verbally or by writing down a summary) and then re-reading to be sure I didn't miss anything. The highlighting will help me keep focused on important concepts. I can then compare my notes to the notes at the end of the chapter.
