Explain the analogy of family members being connected by a piece of rope; why is that relevant to our study of interpersonal communication?
What will be an ideal response?
When we envision picture family members connected by a piece of rope, we see that, as one family member moves, that movement pulls on or affects all the other family members. At times, as family members move, they tie each other up in knots. At other times, they may try to pull away from other family member, and at still other times they give other family members enough rope to experience the freedom necessary for personal growth.
