Compare the methods used in Reciprocal Teaching and Questioning the Author
What will be an ideal response?
Reciprocal Teaching is a form of social-constructivist learning in which students gradually learn key strategies by imitating the teacher. Group discussion techniques and monitoring devices foster retention and allow students to check their own understanding. It involves four proven techniques for building comprehension and monitoring for meaning—predicting, question generating, clarifying, and summarizing.Questioning the Author (QTA) is a method by which the teacher uses sets of queries to start the discussion and keep it moving. They focus on what the author says and means, how ideas are connected, and why information is included. Unlike reciprocal reading, QTA focuses on content rather than strategies, and occurs during reading rather than after reading.
