The authors recommend that during story reading in the primary grades, students read the story 3 times. Describe what happens in each of the three readings

What will be an ideal response?

In the first reading, the focus is on accurate reading. If the students perform at an acceptable accuracy level on the first reading, the teacher then focuses in the second reading on comprehension as well as accuracy. A third reading would focus on fluency with students rereading the story chorally or in pairs.
