Discuss restarting a path and its inherent trickiness.
What will be an ideal response?
Inevitably, when working with the Pen tool, the time will come when you'll need to restart a path that's been deselected. It sounds simple, but it can get a little bit tricky. For example, if you select the last point on the path with the Direct Selection tool then start drawing with the Pen tool, the Pen tool will start a new path that is not connected to the original. If you click the last point on the path with the Pen tool, the point's direction handle will be removed. So, the best method for restarting a deselected path is to click and drag the last point of the path. When you do so, click and drag a handle in the direction that you want to continue, then keep on drawing.
