Explain why you are more likely to see qualitative measurement, rather than quantitative measurement, in an exploratory study than a study that is descriptive, explanatory, or evaluative.

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: The exploratory study is a quest to find more about a theme that is relatively unknown, such as the stages of moral decline for at-risk youth. The other types of studies tend to be focused on themes that are better known, such as the characteristics of the clients of our agency, or the question of whether gender is a predictor of client no-shows. Qualitative measurement is more flexible than quantitative measurement; therefore, it is more useful when your study theme is not well known. In a typical descriptive study, you have a good idea of how study subjects should be characterized (e.g., male or female) so you are in a better position to use quantitative measurement.
