Discuss the difference between a 6-point and a 12-point socket. Explain where each type would be used.

What will be an ideal response?

Sockets are available in 6-point, 8-point, and 12-point configurations. A 6- point and 12-point would each be used for a different nut and bolt design. The face-to-face contact of a 6- point socket provides the most holding power on a hex head.
