Explain what "relationship conflict" is and the text says its origin is. Give at least one good example of an affective conflict you might see in a group.

What will be an ideal response?

Affective or extrinsic conflict is that which originates from power clashes, likes and dislikes unrelated to the group's task. The origin of affective conflict is often one member's acting superior and another resisting that person's status display. An example of this would be if a group member had a tone of voice that suggested she was the big expert on something. Perhaps another member might interpret her tone as "high and mighty". In an affective or extrinsic conflict, the second member might make sarcastic comments after every idea the first member throws out. The first member then might start sniping at the other's ideas. Eventually, both persons in their attacks create conflict well beyond the scope of the group task.
