What will be an ideal response?

Concepts about print, which include directionality (e.g., left-to-right and top-to-bottom flow of words), return sweep (movement from the end of one line of print to the beginning of the next line), recognition of letters, and basic end punctuation marks. All of these concepts about print are prominent in the Common Core as language and foundational skills for kindergartners and first graders. They are useful because they provide a beginning place for word identification as well as spelling, handwriting, and grammar.
