Why is eight glasses of water still recommended in light of this study?
Certain food such as fruits and vegetables contribute quite a bit of water to the daily needs for most people. If a person consumes mostly processed foods or fast foods, they may not be getting enough water each day.
There are studies being performed that suggest that consuming eight glasses of water each day is not necessary for maintaining health. Until more studies are carried out and confirm that eight glasses of water is more than is necessary, people will still believe that this is the amount of water that they need each day.
