Answer: Adaption explanations will vary, but answers should include some of the following factors for each of the groups of listeners:
Individualistic or collectivist – emphasize how information can help members of individualistic cultures as individuals as they focus more on the achievement of a single person. Point out the benefits of your information to the community of collectivistic cultures, since they tend to emphasize the accomplishments of a group or a team.
High or low context – high context listeners will pay closer attention to a variety of nonverbal cues, whereas low-context listeners will focus mainly on your words.
Tolerance of uncertainty and need for certainty – people with low tolerance for uncertainty need your speech to be clearly organized and may prefer a linear, step-by-step structure.
High or low power – people from high power cultures are more likely to perceive people in leadership roles (including speakers) as credible, and will be more comfortable with proposals or solutions that identify or acknowledge differences in social class. People from low-power cultures often favor more shared approaches to leadership and governance.
Long-term or short-term time orientation – Show the immediate impact of any ideas you propose to listeners with a short-term orientation since they consider time an important resource. In contrast, appeal to persistence and benefits to future generations for listeners who are concerned with the long term.
