Why do teachers have to learn about the religious beliefs of their students?

What will be an ideal response?

Religious beliefs bring with them various expectations for an individual's behavior, including observance of customs and traditions. Remember that culture and religion are linked. Understanding who your students are and the role that religion plays in their lives is significant in helping them to learn and in honoring their identities. Understanding the ways in which your own personal religious identity influences your thinking and your relationship with your students will help you to maintain the "consciousness" about yourself that effective teachers require.
