Describe five factors that increase or decrease the basal metabolic rate

What will be an ideal response?

Starvation and fasting for more than 48 hours will lower the BMR. Being very cold or very hot can increase the BMR to bring the body temperature back to normal. An increase in the thyroid hormone will increase the BMR, while a decrease will lower it. BMR declines about 1 to 2 percent per decade after early adult years. Infants, children, and adolescents have an increased BMR because of rapid growth.
