Explain the strengths and weaknesses of using the attribution verb “said” throughout your stories.

What will be an ideal response?

“Said” is the preferred verb of attribution because it is easy to verify whether someone said something, and it is less easy to verify more descriptive verbs such as “laughed.” It is also a neutral term that does not read into the speaker’s attitude or intention when giving a quote. However, repeating the word “said” over and over in a piece can become boring, so writers are advised to occasionally use other verbs of attribution when appropriate.
