Compare and contrast prototyping to incremental approach

What will be an ideal response?

Whereas prototyping aims to build a model that implements all major requirements (in theory, at least), incremental development fully implements a selected set of requirements in each version of the product. The incremental approach groups the requirements into layers. The requirements in the innermost layer, considered most essential to the mission of the software, are implemented first. In each successive iteration, the defects of the previous version are corrected, the design is adjusted accordingly, and the requirements in the next layer are undertaken.
