Describe the structure of an anecdotal record and how a teacher may use this information in the assessment process

What will be an ideal response?

Anecdotal records are short narratives of noteworthy occurrences in the classroom. Setting, time of day, what was said, what was going on around the child, and reactions should all be included with clear focus on specific behaviors avoiding judgment. This allows a teacher to see if a child's particular behaviors have a pattern which may indicate concern or are a random occurrence. Anecdotal records are helpful in sharing with families and should be used to share positive incidences a child has exhibited as well as concerns.
