Answer: The five stages of perception are stimulation, organization, interpretation-evaluation, memory, and recall. In perception, errors may occur because of over using selective attention and exposure. In organization, shortcuts may mislead you by distorting or forgetting information that is inconsistent. In interpretation-evaluation, you can misjudge someone based on your own preconceived schemas. In memory, what you remember about a person is heavily influenced by your preconceptions about what does or doesn’t belong. In recall, you might fail to recall information that is inconsistent with your schema.
