The pituitary gland secretes many releasing and inhibiting hormones. Over- or underproduction of these hormones disrupts the function of the adrenal gland (via ACTH), the reproductive organs (via LH and FSH), cell metabolism (via TSH), and cell growth (via growth hormone).
