Explain the principles of relationship rules theory. Give three examples of rules you learned in your family
Please provide the best answer for the statement.
Answer: The general assumption of relationship rules theory is that friendship and love, in particular, are held together by adherence to certain rules. When those rules are broken, the relationship may deteriorate and even dissolve. The rules help you identify successful versus destructive behavior; pinpoint more specifically why relationships break up; and master social skills involved in relationship development and maintenance. In my family, most of the rules were unspoken. They included the following: 1. It is rude and unacceptable to talk about money. This includes not asking someone how much money they make. For instance, I was never able to discern how much money my father made at his job at any point in his life. 2. Another rule was that you did not purchase something unless the old version was completely broken or useless. This could apply to a coat, shoes, a refrigerator, or even a car. 3. Another rule was that reading was more important than television. Almost every evening, my parents, sisters and I could be found reading a book after dinner.
