List and explain the 5 things to consider when stating your key ideas
What will be an ideal response?
1. Main headings should clearly state the points you will develop. Try to avoid headings that are very
vague and abstract. You want to be as concrete and specific as possible.
2. Main headings should usually be worded as complete sentences. Try to avoid fragmented sentences or
very long sentences as a main heading.
3. Main headings should be concise. You want your listeners to remember your key ideas, so try to keep
them relatively short.
4. Main ideas should be parallel to other main ideas. Using a similar word structure gives your speech
rhythm and repetition.
5. Main ideas should summarize the speech. Make it clear for your listeners how your main points
answer the organizing question and achieve your specific purpose.
