How is bone health measured?
Bone mineral density and mass can be measured using a variety of instruments. A DEXA (dual-energy x-ray absorptiometer) emits a very low amount of x-rays and can produce a detailed picture of the body. DEXA testing can provide a painless and accurate measurement of bone mass and bone mineral density and can distinguish among different areas of the body.
