Several factors influence this early narrative, and which may impede the individual’s development toward more genuine way of being and would be areas for the group leader to explore. These factors include:
1 . Fictional goals (unconscious assumptions regarding what must be done to develop worth as an individual, such as striving for superiority);
2 . Birth order (the individual’s chronological and psychological position within the family);
3 . The family constellation/atmosphere (variables related to personality, relationships, developmental issues, structural factors, attitudes and values within the family).
