Protostomes are animals whose blastophore in the gastrula stage of development becomes a mouth; the anus develops later. In deuterosomes, the blastophore becomes the anus. Other differences in development and the formation of the coelom exist. Protostomes: Platythelminthes, Rotifera, Annelida, Mollusca, Nematoda, and Arthropods. Deuterosomes: Echinodermata, Chordata.
